• Midwestern landscapes will always be one of my favorite images to create, but after having children, time constraints have forced me to reimagine my style in a significant way. I am now exploring abstract shapes, forms, and textures with paint, pen, graphite, and a variety of other media on canvas. Most days, my focus is either on my children or my clients and this has pushed my emotional and physical limits to another level. I now view my art making as a necessary form of processing, release, and connection with myself. It helps me redefine my independence and rediscover myself, apart from the many people and relationships I care for. However, my art also depicts how I am so deeply impacted by the stories I hear from those around me on a daily basis. A main interest of mine is combining muted tones to either contrast or compliment bold, playful colors. All of the images, textures, and colors build a full narrative for me on a single canvas. With this kind of creative play, I am always seeking some kind of balance and resolution in the many dichotomies and challenges that life holds.
